Description
Composition: Jute
Jute is a seasonal crop cultivated in the Bengal region of India and Bangladesh. It is an annual, inter-crop, after paddy cultivation. It grows in plain alluvial soil and standing water and needs plenty of sunshine and rainfall. After the seeds are sown, within 100 days it is grown up to 40cm and ready for harvest. The fibre is taken from the skin of the plant. The woody hemp is soaked in water for nearly a month to extract 30cm long, soft and shiny fibres.
